Joseph Drouhin, Montrachet Marquis Laguiche Vintage:2017This is much riper than the 2010 with its softly exotic (but not tropical) nose of pear, mango, peach, oak and floral aromas. The big, opulent and ultra intense broad based flavors also remain extremely backward and tight yet the palate staining finish is hugely persistent. This border line massive effort will require the better part of a decade to reach its full potential but should be well worth the wait as the underlying material is most

yet with a refreshing finish

11% cabernet franc and 7% petit verdot)

it has great concentration

the finesse of structure showed through along with hints of wild violets

The 2010 de Fargues has an attractive bouquet with scents of honey

Background notes of wood are discernible but stop short of being invasive as they still allow the restrained

quince and white peach flavors

Both were superb

and the 2013 Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is a true standout in the appellation

there is the same knockout complexity that the nose displays on the intensely mineral-driven finish and overall

the 2015 is very pretty
